Davina, another lovely post. You put so much thought and practice into this, and share your gift with others! The deepest form of love! Thank you for being you, and allowing yourself to belong to all of us!
This was such an enlightening read Davina and I am so grateful to you for developing and sharing this wonderful self-compassion tool. I love what you said about realising the importance of allowing every small kindness to yourself in your suffering, and of noticing the chances to practice kindness. Reading your insightful words has helped me to realise that I may slowly be developing the muscle of self compassion in learning to be willing to suffer with myself, and not to ignore, abandon or attack myself further in that suffering. It is such a simple thing but I have found holding my heart to feel such a powerful act in acknowledging my pain and offering the intention to soothe and comfort myself ❤️
Dearest Romey, Thank you so much for reading and for letting me know you had a look at the tool Yes - all those tiny ways. I am so happy if you found it a little bit helpful. Oh - yes - a hand on my heart I love the way this makes me feel. It’s a courageous thing to be with our suffering about profound loss. And, I believe, a healing and transformational thing. Just to know it’s OK to feel what I feel. Much love to you. 🩵🩵🩵
Honestly it's been so helpful Davina 🙏🏻💛 and I feel like the belonging practice you recommended could be absolutely transformational for me! Sending much love and gratitude 💙
Davina - This post is full of hard earned wisdom generously shared. How lovely to hear your voice.
Some gems that I took away: Self compassion is not just so we can give to others, The feeling we must look after others needs before our own, Maybe when leaving oneself abandoned it wasn’t kindness after all.
There’s so much more, but there’s only so much one can absorb at a time. This is a post that deserves to be listened to over and over again. And then there are the exercises to help us even more.
Your words are a beautiful meditation as we sit in the kitchen with you, learning as you face the most difficult possible grief. How can such beauty come from such deep loss? Maybe that’s how it works?
A great post…and I agree, self-compassion is so vital a part of our moving through the profound loss of our child. And yet it can be so hard to find after our child takes their life. I almost felt as if the guilt which flooded in was a bully, and self-compassion the vulnerable child it was threatening.
It sounds so simple, doesn’t it, just being kind to ourselves. But for a parent who has lost their child it can feel like a radical act, caring about ourselves now they are gone. Thank you Davina for developing such a great tool, to help lead us back to the healing power of self/compassion 🙏❤️
Karin, sweetheart, thank you for reading. Absolutely, yes, it is not possible to be kind to others without including ourselves. Thank you for listening!

Thank you Esther. I do really hope the tool will be useful.
And yes, it is a radical act, to offer ourselves self-compassion.
I know that you know this. Deeply.
You have accidentally called me Nikki! I am taking that as a compliment. I also know this is our shared territory with @Nikki Meyler Miller too.
Thank you for reading. 🥰
Thanks Davina…big oops 🥴Just realised and DM’d you…yes, I see you both as very wise and find your words equally helpful! 🙏❤️
